What is FlowPants™?
FlowPants™ is a boxer brief-style undergarment that
delivers electrically-powered heat when activated.
FlowPants™ is designed to help reduce uncomfortable
urinary symptoms associated with incomplete bladder
emptying, a situation that commonly occurs with
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as
Enlarged Prostate, and Paruresis, also known as Shy
Bladder Syndrome.
How do I use FlowPants™?
FlowPants™ is designed to be discreetly worn under
your pants but on top of your regular underwear
(boxers or briefs). The temperature
controller/battery pack attaches to your waist via
belt clip. Simply turn on the controller and
FlowPants™ will gradually warm up and deliver
soothing, relaxing heat to the lower abdominal and
pelvic region, with emphasis on the suprapubic and
perineal areas.
What comes in the FlowPants™ box?
With your FlowPants™ purchase you will receive the
FlowPants™ undergarment, a rechargeable
battery/temperature controller, a wall charger to
recharge the battery/temperature controller, a
connector cable to connect the battery/temperature controller
to your FlowPants™, and a color brochure/User Guide.
The battery/temperature controller, wall charger,
and connector cable are available for purchase separately
as accessories. A car charger is also available as
an accessory. A .pdf version of the brochure/User
Guide is available on this site (scroll down to the
bottom of this page for the link).
How many uses will I get with a fully charged
battery?
At the Maximum heat setting, the battery will last
approximately 90 minutes. The FlowPants™ battery
automatically shuts off after 15 minutes of use, so
a fully charged battery will provide 6 uses at the
Maximum heat setting before it needs recharging. A
completely dead battery takes approximately 1 hour
to fully charge.
Can FlowPants™ be washed in a washing machine?
Yes. FlowPants™ is guaranteed for up to 15 cycles in
a washing machine or 50 hand washings. FlowPants™
must be hang-dried and is NOT approved for use in a
clothes dryer. Care instructions are included with
FlowPants™. When following the care instructions,
FlowPants™ is designed to last for at least one year
before requiring replacement.
Should I stop taking drugs like Flomax®
(Tamsulosin)?
No. If you are taking Flomax® (Tamsulosin)
or other FDA-approved drugs, you should consult with
your physician on how to incorporate FlowPants™ into
your therapy strategy. FlowPants™ is not intended
to replace FDA-approved medications. FlowPants™ is a
non-invasive, non-pharmacological means intended to
provide a complementary or alternative option to
help patients suffering from Urinary Hesitancy or
Urinary Retention conditions.
What is Urinary Hesitancy and what symptoms can
it cause?
Urinary Hesitancy is a condition in which a person
has trouble releasing urine from the body. This can
cause difficulty beginning the urination process or
continuing urine flow once it starts. The primary
symptom of urinary hesitancy is an urge to urinate
without actually being able to. There could be a
number of physiological and/or psychological reasons
for this condition.
One of the most common causes of Urinary Hesitancy
is Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), a condition
more typically referred to as an Enlarged Prostate.
Other possible causes of Urinary Hesitancy are:
Partial obstruction of the lower urinary tract,
urinary tract infection, prescription drugs, and
prostate cancer among others.
What is Paruresis (Shy Bladder Syndrome) and what
symptoms can it cause?
Paruresis, or Shy Bladder Syndrome, is a social
phobia that affects approximately 17 million
Americans, approximately 90% of who are male (may be
common in females as well but the condition goes
unrecognized or underreported). In both men and
women, the condition can be debilitating and have an
adverse impact on work, social life, and other
everyday living tasks. The main symptom of Shy
Bladder Syndrome is a difficulty or inability to
urinate in public places or around others. |
