FlowPants™ is a boxer brief-style undergarment that
delivers gentle heat when activated. FlowPants™ is
designed to deliver muscle-relaxing heat to specific
areas to help individuals with Urinary Hesitancy and
Urinary Retention conditions. FlowPants™ is
battery-powered and provides adjustable, controlled
heat to deliver muscle-relaxing effects similar to
those caused by a hot tub (see the
Science page for more
details).
FlowPants™ uses the effects of comfortable skin
heating to cause relaxation of muscle cells in the
bladder neck, urinary sphincter, and pelvic floor.
The effect of heating can be described as
“anti-sympathetic”, meaning it reduces the activity
of the Sympathetic Nervous System. Increased
sympathetic nervous activity is associated with the
Urinary Hesitancy symptoms seen in Benign Prostatic
Hyperplasia (BPH), also known as Enlarged Prostate,
and Parauresis, also known as Shy Bladder Syndrome.
In fact, drugs such as Flomax® (Tamsulosin)
cause anti-sympathetic effects to treat these
symptoms. Heat, when improperly administered, can
actually trigger sympathetic reactions, so it is
very important to limit the amount of heat so that
it does not exceed the tolerance level beyond which
heat can become stressful and cause sympathetic
reactions. FlowPants™ delivers this gentle,
controlled, muscle-relaxing heat intended to bring
relief to those suffering from Urinary Hesitancy and
Urinary Retention conditions.
FlowPants™ was designed to be worn discreetly under
your pants or shorts but on top of your regular
underwear (boxers or briefs). The temperature
controller/battery pack attaches to your waist via
belt clip. Simply turn on the controller and
FlowPants™ will gradually warm up and deliver
soothing, relaxing heat to the lower abdominal and
pelvic region, with emphasis on the suprapubic and
perineal areas. It is as simple as Heat, Relax, Go!
